Fashion Bug Complaint - Calling My House - advertising

Review by Valued Customers? on 2008-05-16
MCMINNVILLE, OREGON -- I received a phone call from your company this evening as I was putting dinner on the table. Nobody was on the otber line.

As a VIP card holder, I became concerned that perhaps something was wrong with my account and I tried to return the call, But I only got a recording, even pressing zero wouldn't get me a representative, but it did give me another long distance number I could call.

Even at this number I had to make my way through an automated system to get a human being. Once I finally got a representative, I found out that the only reason I was called was to be informed about a sale.

I receive fliers from your company very frequently, and I have always read them and even came to numerous sales. I don't think I will come to your store again at this point.

If you are going to stoop low enough to call my home during the dinner hour, you could atleast be courteous enough to have a human being on the other line when I drop everything to answer it. I apparently wasn't important enough, so you have lost my business.

Many times, these services dial many numbers at the same time. When one call is answered, they drop the other lines. Many seniors are frightened by this - it might take them longer to get to the phone, so often times there is no one on the other end by the time they answer. They think someone is testing the house to see if someone is home. I really dislike this practice, but it is not just Fashion Bug.

It always makes me laugh when people complain about being called by a company when they are putting dinner on the table...like the company is supposed to just KNOW every customer's dinner schedule...LOL...
Even if you stopped shopping at their store, you will still get calls and mailings as long as you keep their credit card open...again, they wouldn't KNOW that you stopped shopping there and they aren't going to look at the activity of every credit card to find out when you shopped there last. The only thing you can do is close your Fashion Bug credit (which has way too high APR anyway) if you want the courtesy calls to stop. You should also check your statement or the website, they most likely have the option to NOT recieve calls.

I'm also annoyed by these courtesy calls. But, I was admonished not to take it out on the person calling. Many times, the caller (telephone solicitor) would love to have a different job...nobody likes being cursed, screamed at, and hung up on. But, it was the only job they could find. I now listen to the opening pitch, calmly decline, and state my approval for their appreciating the need to make a living by taking what is a really nasty job. Try it!
