Regions Bank Compliment - A Great Company - Checking

Checking - Compliment
Review by wgaguy1984 on 2008-05-16
It seems Bank of America has had a rash of complaints about NSF fees and it spurred me to praise my bank for its great customer service. I've had my account since I was in high school, now in grad school and only have overdrafted twice. Once, I went on vacation to Florida with $400 less than I thought I had, which is what I get for checking my balance at the ATM. I didn't even asked for any of the $300 in NSF fees to be waived, I didn't want to disclose my stupidity to anyone.

Then, last semester, I accidentally overdrafted at McDonald's, and I had my mother run to the local branch (I was at school) to deposit $100 to cover me but it was too late. 3 deposits, all for food cleared and the 3 NSF fees demolished the $100 I deposited. I called the 1-800 and told the lady what happened, (that she could see I hadn't went out and bought a television or anything, it was for food, and I tried to cover it). She was like, well, no one but your local branch manager can waive it, but, she put me on hold and called her for me to plead my case, and they only charged me one. Overall, I've gotten great and friendly customer service from Regions over the years. I'm supposed to pay 6 dollars a month for online bill pay because I'm not technically under a student account anymore, but they keyed it in so I still get it free. It comes out every month but then they reverse the charge. The only criticism I have is they don't have a 24 hour 1-800 #; as a second-shifter, it's a little bit annoying.

They recently merged with another bank, I hope as they get larger they don't lose their small town feel.

i love bank of america. i have not had any issues what so ever. if people learnt o live within their means, there would not be any overdraft fees.

It's good to hear you have had a good experience with Regions. I also have accounts at Regions.

When they merged with AmSouth I made it a point to read the new agreement. I assure you they have all the same "we will do whatever we want with your money" clauses in the agreement as the other big banks.

The only reason I will stay with them is the trust I have in the people at my local branch. If they leave, so will I.

They have a toll free number that I call all the time. It is 1-800-regions or (1-800-734-4667)
