Saratoga Chrysler Jeep Dodge Complaint - Scamming Elderly - Rotors And Brakes

Review by k1nstang on 2008-05-19
SATATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK -- My father went to Saratoga Chrysler jeep dodge to get his 2005 jeep inspected, the total bill was $869.56, he was told he had to have all rotors and brakes replaced in order to pass inspection, the jeep has 18,365 miles and he uses it approx. 2000 miles a year. My dad is 81 years old and was told without this work they couldn't give him a state inspection sticker, my father is a diabetic and a heart patient, and felt he HAD to have all this work done because he had too many doctors appointments to keep.

And now he cannot afford to see his doctors due to this unbelievable bill, my point is there is no way ALL his rotors and brakes had to be replaced, and that Satatoga Chrysler jeep dodge preyed on an elderly person, by telling him no job no sticker, they didn't even show him the old rotors.

What kind of business is that?

I gotta agree. Sad indeed, but I find it hard to believe that all four rotors had to be replaced at 18K miles. The worst case scenerio is that the rotors would have to be machined, not replaced. You should try to send a well written letter to the General manager of your concerns on behalf of your father. Good Luck

seems odd to me that this jeep would have 4W disc brakes? Aren't they just drums in the back or no.

Rick, depending on the model it may have 4 wheel disc

The bill would be reasonable if the work was needed. I strongly believe the work was not needed. There is a special corner of Hades specifically reserved for people who scam the elderly or the incompetent.

your dad got took.
You may want to have a talk with him and advise you before he commits to $$$$. I finally had to get power of attorney for my father and control of his accounts before he died because so many people were scamming him.
Good luck
