Elegance Handbags Complaint - Item returned - No credit issued

Review by Bassman102 on 2008-05-19
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- I bought a bag from this company around the Christmas holiday. When the bag arrived my wife had suspicions that it was not an authentic Marc Jacobs bag as described. Item was returned to the company and no credit was ever issued.

I lost $310 on this transaction. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY OR YOU MAY GET RIPPED OFF!!!

I hope you used a credit card for payment. I also hope you have a receipt proving they got the return. And, I hope it has been less than 60 days since it first appeared on your credit card statement.

If all the above holds true the file a dispute with your credit card company before time runs out.

Do you have a copy of a return authorization if the company required one for returns? Do you have USPS proof that the item was returned? If so, you may get some satisfaction through your state's attorney general or Small Claims Court. More importantly, thanks for the post.

Their return policy is posted on their website and is very clear. If you want to return something you need to contact them within 48 hours of receipt via e-mail for an RMA number. "After this period all sales are final. After 15 days we consider all sales final."

If you purchased this item "around the Christmas holiday" and it is now the middle of May, it is long past the vendor's return policy and also more than 60 days since the charge appeared on your credit card statement.

Lesson learned? Investigate the return policy before making the purchase.

Sheesh! How did I miss the "around the Christmas holiday"! The older I get, the dumber I get.

Yep, this one is lost money. Expensive lesson.

Susan, if they aren't going to accept the item then they at least need to send the item back. They can't have the item and the money.

If you suspect this company of selling counterfeit product you should turn them into the proper authorities. I'm not sure who that might be but I bet this Marc Jacobs fellar might know. Good luck.

Yes...they were contacted as soon as the item was given as a gift (and the authenticity was questioned). I followed all the steps necessary. Credit was never issued. I also alerted Marc Jacobs so they can buy from them to check and see if the bags are indeed authentic.
