Taco Bell Complaint - Food handling - handling of the food
NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT -- This review does not apply to all Taco Bells although it could depending upon what their policies are. I refer to a particular Taco Bell near my home on Whalley Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut. If one purchases food by way of the drive thru one can usually pretend everything is o.k. although even then the service can be slow. If one goes inside to eat however, it amazes me how anyone can complete their purchase once they see how the food is handled! On one occasion when the drive thru was not available, due to I,believe a shortage of staff, I had to go inside the building. It didn't take me long to leave after watching one of the workers stick his ungloved hand into a bin of lettuce. Granted he washed his hands before doing so but as he wasn't the only one preparing food, I had to wonder had someone stuck their unwashed, possibly just returned from the bathroom, hands in the bin prior to him. In which case his hand washing would be irrelevant. Personally, I'm all for the glove wearing method. Maybe there's a policy about wearing gloves and this particular Taco Bell is just lax. On another occasion, my husband took my children to the same Taco Bell with similar circumstances. When he asked the manager to have his employee to wear gloves, the manager agreed that the employee should be wearing gloves but the employee when asked to put on gloves, quit on the spot. Imagine quitting a job because someone asked you to practice good hygiene! Another employee informed my husband that she never ate there. And finally just to completely destroy any illusions I might have that I could ever go to Taco Bell again (at least that particular Taco Bell)I drove through the drive thru one day and ordered their cinnamon sticks. When they arrived there were two long strands of hair tangled up in the food. That put an end to my patrionizing Taco Bell. They need a policy for the wearing of gloves and hair nets if they do not have one and the enforcing of the policy if they already do.
