Ray's Reliable Lawn Service Complaint - Rays "Un-Reliable" Lawn Service (Towson, Rogers Forge, Ruxton, Baltimore County)

Review by Csey on 2008-05-20
BALTIMORE , MARYLAND -- For those of you who are looking for a new lawn service in Baltimore County, do not use Rays "Reliable" Lawn Care.

He is not reliable and may quit on you with a moment’s notice in your time of need. Ray let my lawn grow for 2-3 weeks and kept promising to come out to mow my lawn. He subsequently quit with no notice while my lawn was over 2.5 feet tall. He offered no transisiton period and no support what-so-ever. It took another week and a half to find another lawn service. By this time the lawn, was a full fledged field with grass as high as 3-4ft tall.

In an industry that thrives on word of mouth and good reputation, this was a bad business move.

Ray does not strive to provide the best customer service possible. Ray definitely doesn't make each client feel like the only client.

Be warned about Rays "Reliable" Lawn care.
Even If he solicits your business, Don't be fooled and look elsewhere.

A few suggestions:
1) Pay the guy.
2) Cut it yourself
3) Find someone else to cut it.
4) Stop growing weeds in your yard! For feet tall in a little over a month?

I have to agree with zz. 2.5 feet worth of growth in 3 weeks??? Another foot and a half after another week?? I'll say this, he used some seriously good fertilizer when he was on the job.

In oklahoma what y'all call weeds we call prairie grass & wild flowers. You know keeping it real and authentic... Not buying it? Neither did the HOA. Freakin lawn Nazis.

Slim for some reason I get the feeling at some time or another you've held official rank in an HOA.

No way! I would never purchase a residence anywhere that had an HOA. Maybe a condo rental prop but that's about it, and I certainly wouldn't serve. I refuse to have anyone tell me what I can and can't do with my own home.

I work with this guy who is the president of his HOA. He seriously walks the neighborhood with a ruler, measuring people's lawns. He sends out letters to anyone who does not meet code. And you should hear him whine about fellow neighbors who use the 'common area' for purposes other than what it's intended. Can you believe someone was actually playing catch there? He told me - it's not a park, you know. Glad I don't live in his neighborhood.

You are a wise man slim

Cherpep -- Yes indeed HOA's give power to those putzes with too few social engagements and too much time on their hands.

The house I recently sold was in a bizarre HOA where the president's son was paid handsomely to mow the green belts and common areas and nobody saw a problem with that???

I've found most of these condo commanders that "police" residents that are under a management company's umbrella, are nothing more than wannabe power hungry losers. Case and point above, how much of a no life can one be to be measuring people's lawn with a ruler so he can bust their chops about how high their own grass is?

I'd never live under an HOA either. I have heard more complaints about them. They sound like henpecked husbands and bored to death housewives. No offense intended.
Posted by cherpep on 2008-05-20:
They are filled with people who care entirely too much about what other people are doing.

Became VP of mine just so that I don't have to deal with an 'evil' HOA again.

cherp, your guy must have been married to the Pres of my old HOA. She walked around every Saturday with the ruler. For a while she was useing binoculars to look over the back of everyones fences. Took care of that foolishness with my garden hose ^_^
