AirTran Airways Complaint - How about a break for our Troops??
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- I just very shocked when I was checking in at Indianapolis airport, surrounded by our US Army Troops just returning home from a year in Iraq. Each traveler is only permitted one piece of luggage, otherwise you have to pay extra. But for our military personnel? Are you kidding me? I was astounded when the airline charged each military member for their extra pieces of luggage and overweight luggage. These are the people defending our country, have been away from their families for a year and you have the audacity to charge them for extra baggage. I wanted to laugh at the lady behind the counter. I know it wasn't her decision but someone higher up at the airline should re-visit this policy for our troops. If I had the money I would have paid for each of their charges so show my gratitude and respect for everything they do for us.
Then to make things worse, on my connecting flight from Atlanta to Tampa they had me and my 2 1/2 year old daughter sitting in separate aisles. How can you separate a minor from their parent on the same flight? And of course there was nothing they could do for me. Luckily I was able to switch with a nice man and get the seat next to my daughter.
Needless to say I will never be flying Airtran Airways again. Thanks for nothing.
