Jessup Auto Plaza Complaint - Apparent Scam - Auto Dealership
CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA -- In February 2007 my husband took our 2001 Cadillac Deville to Jessup Auto Plaza in Cathedral City, Ca for an oil change. He waited while Brian, the technician worked on the car. When he went to talk to the service adviser, Ryan, he was told he had a cracked block which would cost $10,000 to replace. Ryan said "I know a mechanic who will give you $5,000 for your car". The car had come down from the lift so the adviser could not (or would not) show my husband the crack in the block. Ryan made it very clear that the car should not be driven from the lot, he said "it was spewing fluid", even though not a drop of "spewing fluid" could be seen.
My husband elected to drive the car off the lot and directly to the other Cadillac dealership and certified service center in town. He was told by the owner of the other dealership, Jeff, that the car did not have a cracked block! We take immaculate care of our car, it has never been in an accident, we are both in our 70's and feel Jessup Auto was trying to defraud us of our money.
When we confronted the manager of Jessup, Dennis, concerning our experience, he made it clear he had no intention of doing anything about it. We will never return to this dealership and advise all others to steer clear!
