Kmart Complaint - Unprofessional Staff
TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- On 5-25-08 at about 01:00 PM I entered K Mart in an attempt to buy a 32 inch television. I found a T.V. Because it is hard to judge the size when it is on a shelf I asked the sales person the size. She said it was a 32 inch. She added it was a clearance item because it was a discontinued "RCA" television. I asked her if the item came with the warranty. She said no. She added it came with a store 30 day warranty. I decided not to buy it even though it was priced very low.
About an hour later I called K Mart and asked for the manager. The manager told me if they could find the paper work for the TV I would be able to get the warranty. I told the manager if the item was on their shelf the warranty should be included because K Mart is not a second hand store and I was buying a new item. The manager said he would increase the discount because they could not find the paper work for the warranty. When I went back to the store the original sales person told me the TV was not working properly. When I mentioned this to the manager he said the TV was fine. While waiting for the manage to get a cart for the TV I measured the screen. It was only a 27 inch. I told the manager I was told it was a 32 inch screen. He said he didn't know.
The manager of the store tried talking me into buying the TV. I told him it was not going to happen. I went to Walmart and bought a very nice 32 inch flat screen for a little more than K Mart was trying to sell a discontinued item that a sales clerk said was not working properly. The manager was willing to sell me a TV he knew was not the size I wanted with no warranty and one of his employees telling me the TV was bad.
I have been shopping at K Mart for about 30 years. This experience has turned me to Walmart. I will never shop at K Mart again. I don't like companies that hire employees that are not proficient at their jobs and managers that will attempt to cheat the public to make a buck. I would recommend to anybody looking to buy a big ticket item such as a TV, don't go to K Mart. They can't be trusted.
