Amazon.com Complaint - Amazon & TRS Recovery
I recently bought a book on Amazon.com for a friend. Because I was ordering at work and wanted to be quick, I clicked on 'One-Click Ordering', knowing that I had 2 credit cards registered there. I received two confirming emails, and a day later the book arrived. Great right? Nope. 8 days later I received a notice from TRS Recovery demanding payment of the $15.96 plus $20 fees. The reason? My electronic payment was returned. At first, I thought it was a hoax and that TRS Recovery was a scam. Turns out, my "One-Click" ordering was set to an old checking account I had closed. Since the response time on bank drafts is instant these days, why did Amazon send me the book anyway? Why didn't they just charge it to one of the 2 credit cards?
I have been doing business with Amazon regularly using credit cards and have no good explanation for why I didn't get that checking account off the profile, but based on this process and the swiftness with which it transpired, I strongly suspect that Amazon.com is in collusion with TRS Recovery.
Amazon doesn't have to exert any customer service whatsoever, TRS pays them off, and people like me get to pay $36 for an $11 book that I should have gone to Borders to buy off the shelf. I am done with Amazon --there are too many other options out there.
