Toys R Us Complaint - Employee broke my rear view mirror and Risk Management will not call me back to take care of damage
MASSAPEQUA, NEW YORK -- I went to Toys R Us with my 3 year old last week and purchased a new car seat as the manager explained to me that this particular one I wanted was on sale and they had limited quantities. As I had my child, I could not bring the seat to my automobile. The manager told me not to worry about it. He would bring it out. After I checked out, I went to get my car and waited out front. One of their employees came out and tried to put the car seat into my car. When he was done, I tipped him and went to get into my car. I hear my three year old saying "Mommy, he broke the glass". I look to find that interior rear view mirror hanging down.
I took my child out of the car and went back into the store (this is only the beginning of the inconvenience caused to me and my child by this situation). The manager, whom I had spoken with earlier came out to my car. He apologized and took us in to file a report (which they could not give me a copy of as their copier was not working). The manager, Eric, wanted to take pictures of my mirror. Apparently, their automatic camera was out of film. After about ten minutes, they located a camera and he came out and took pictures.
Eric gave me the telephone number to Toys R Us Risk Management. I contacted them when I got hom and was told that they could not assist me until the got the report. But if an employee did break my mirror, they would repair it and pay for a rental car. The woman stated to me that she would get the report the next day.
I called the next day to update them on the damage. That was last Wednesday and I am still waiting for them to call. I have left several messages and even went back into the store.
Not only was this an inconvenience in terms of time, money, etc. Most importantly, it was an inconvenience to my child.
You would think that Toys R US would do the right thing and try to take care of this immmediately or at least call and tell me that they will get back to me as soon as they can. I have not received that courtesy from them.
Talk about adding insult to damage!!!
I don't think I would shop at Toys R Us again!
