Candian Consulate at Detroit Complaint - Canadian Consulate Employee Behavior

Review by Geoom on 2008-05-30
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- I visited the Canadian Consulate at Detroit on 04/17/08 seeking a 1 day visitor visa for my sister and brother-in-law who are in US visiting their kids. The blonde lady at Counter 2 was unprofessional, rude and clearly hostile. I cannot condone such behavior from a consulate office that claims to be a good will ambassador for trade, tourism etc. Its perfectly okay to reject a 1 day visa application for someone who has a 10 year US visa and visas to several prosperous EU nations and is a respected businessman in his home country. But it is simply not acceptable that a clerk can behave any way she wants simply because she can.

I wrote a letter to Mr. Robert Noble - Consul General and haven't heard back in a month. I cannot condone such behavior and am going to plaster this across the internet and elevate it every way I can.

Readers please chip in with your experiences.
Thank you

A large number of public officials (no longer called public servants) forget who they work for:

"And therein engenders a multitude of officials and subofficials, each conveying, though all be done with little voice...'Make way. For I am part of the grand machine of the state.'"---Paraphrasing the Marquis de Custin (I think)

I got great service from the Canadian consulate in Seattle. You can elevate anything you want but you don't give any indication of the problem so your post just takes on the form of a rant. Post to your hearts content.

This is the same lady who gave a talk at my university for international students. Extremely rude, when she was having the Q and A session at the end of the talk, she kept saying "Were you here for the talk?" and kept pointing to her imaginary wristwatch saying that I need to hurry up as she needs to hurry when the talk was scheduled for 2 hours and it was only an hour and a half through and I was the second to last person in line. Very rude, surprisingly as I never expected that from Canadians, let alone Canadian representatives. Hope she gets reprimanded, fired and replaced soon, because it's not beneficial for both clients and the consulate.
