Dish Network Complaint - Being charged $200.00 for faulty equipment
CANBY, OREGON -- The power button on our receiver broke off inside the receiver in February, so I called, they sent a "new" one to us, we sent the old one back as instructed. the customer service rep. told me that there would NOT be an equipment charge. the old receiver worked, the button was just broken. when I went on line today, I notice a 200.00 equipment charge, I called, they told me that the reason for the charge was that there was a foreign substance found inside the receiver!? I said that was not possible, the only thing wrong with it was the power button. I asked to speak to a manager, the manager got on the line, and was absolutley NO help at all, his response was, "I'm sorry miss, I don't know what to tell you, the power button is not covered under the equipment warranty, it's considered cosmetic damage"
now, I consider myself an intelligent person, would and intelligent person send back a working receiver knowing that I would be charged $200.00? no I would not. the only reason I did any of it was I was told I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED an equipment fee. not only am I extremely angry about the charge, that was in FEBRUARY, it is now almost JUNE!!! I haven no choice but to pay the 200 dollars(for something that is not our fault). I am NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. I think they need to re-train their customer service reps. "i don't know what to tell you miss" is an unacceptable answer.
