Tomtom Complaint - Repair service - Portabe GPS device

I recently purchased a TomTom One XL.S GPS. Unfortunately, I dropped it, damaging the screen. I called TomTom to find out how I could get it repaired, acknowledging that it was my fault and would pay to have it repaired. TomTom does not repair their products that are out of warranty period! They did offer to sell me a replacement for a discounted price; however, their discounted price was $100.00 more than I paid for it! I wrote a review on "get satisfaction". TomTom replied by stating that they do not, or intend to offer repair on out of warranty products.

They did suggest two third party companies that might to the repair. Both of them were in the UK and you had to send them the product for an estimate.

The bottom line is buyer beware. I did check with Garvin and Magellan, they both offer out of warranty repair service.

Right, Alley. Ever check on repair of a counter top microwave oven? It's cheaper to buy a new one.

Even if it was under warranty it would not have been covered. You dropped it and it's considered abuse. You're better of buying a new one.
