Burger King - Brampton Ontario Canada Complaint - Unsanitary Food Handling
BRAMPTON, ONT. CANADA -- It would appear that the Burger King Corporation, overall, has a BIG problem with their policy on food handling/preparation.
I googled Burger King Head Office, Canada, so I could lodge a complaint about the lack of cleanliness the staff use when handling food. And then I saw the "My3cents.com" link. And hey, there is another Burger King unhappy customer, with the same complaint as mine.. only she is from the U.S. and I am from Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
My story: First off, when I went to the counter to order, the female employee who was serving me was quite verbally abrupt. There was nothing pleasant or cheerful about her. I didn't say anything about her rudeness, but thought to myself, "what the H*** is her problem?"
I ordered for myself(salad) and my son. He wanted a hamburger with ketchup only. When he opened his burger it had "all the trimmings" on it.
I returned to the counter and requested another burger. As I was waiting, I observed the female food handler. I watched her touch the bun, the meat, the pickles, the lettuce, with her bare hands. I was shocked to see that she was preparing the food and "NOT WEARING GLOVES". The she started on another hamburger, doing the same process. Only difference was that this burger was for my son. I asked for the manager and told her that I wasn't accepting this hamburger. When asked why, I said because the handler was not wearing gloves when she made it. The manager (or asst. mgr) told me that they did not have to wear gloves because it wasn't Burger King's policy. (And get this) She also said that the handler washed her hands when she first came on shift, so her hands were clean. I looked at her and wondered if she actually had a brain? How stupid was that comment. It's quite obvious that during her shift, this food handler touched other items, including her skin and/or hair. UGHH!!
AND YOU EXPECT ME EAT YOUR FOOD??? I DON'T THINK SO !!
I ended up telling the manager to give me "chicken fries" (and even they were dry).
This event happened 4 weeks ago or so. I haven't been back and I don't intend to ever go back.(I will go out of my way to eat at Wendy's).
I think the execs at BK HDQ should take a good look at this problem, because it seems to be the "norm" in all BK restaurants in the U.S. & Canada.
(And we wonder how people are contracting diseases and getting extremely sick)...well there's one of your answers.
Burger King needs to "Clean up their Act". (Pardon the pun)
