Enhanced Services Billing Complaint - Scam Charges On My Phone Bill

Review by rheephil on 2008-06-04
OHIO -- On my current AT&T Phone bill, there is a charge for "Enhanced Services Billing for VoiceExpress, monitoring Voice Mail". The charge on my account was $13.95. When I called the "888" number on my phone bill, I was informed by a representative that someone (and they gave me the name of the person who registered my phone number and city he is from) went on their website and registered my phone number. I told them that I did not do this, wasn't even aware of their company until I saw my invoice and wanted it cancelled and a credit on my bill. The representative said he cancelled my account and that a credit would show up between 1 to 2 billing cycles.

AT&T wouldn't help me out...had to solve this one myself. I recommend everyone watch your utility bills closely!

Extremely helpful to know. Odd that 'signing up' for this 'service' doesn't require confirming information from the person entering the phone number on the site.

I would report that to your state Utility Commission. You can tell they can't confirm it by how fast they back down off the billings. I'm betting that there are a lot of people that don't bother to look their bills over carefully.
