American Express Complaint - Reduction Of Credit/Poor Customer Service
SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA -- I recently had to close my checking account and open another due to fraud. I pay all my bills online and continued to do so. The bank made an error and sent my bills from the closed account. I contacted AMEX and notified them that this was not my error. They said I would not be penalized. Then we were charged a NSF fee. After several phone calls that was removed. Then they raised our interest. Again, after several phone calls that was lowered. Then they lowered our credit limit. I wrote to the CEO and received a phone call asking what I would like done. I said I wanted our card back at the rate we had, with the credit limit we had. They said o.k. We got a bill shortly after that showed our credit limit was still at the previously reduced rate. I called and got no help. Wrote another letter with no response. Now our credit score has been lowered because it looks like our card was maxed out. So I make a 750.00 payment and get another letter that our credit limit had been reduced again because our credit score dropped. It was their fault that it dropped. We have been repeatedly punished for a BANK error that the BANK has taken responsibility for.
American Express is supposed to have a reputation for good customer service, but they are ruining our life. Because of this situation snowballing our interest rate on a car loan was also increased. They have ruined our credit and cost us so much more in interest.
