Sears Complaint - Poor Quality Cabinets
We ordered a new kitchen through Sears and it was to be installed beginning on 4/28/08. They actually began the work on 4/29/08. They removed our old kitchen in about a day and a portion of the next day. The cabinets were delivered on 4/30/08. We were out of the house for several hours and when we returned the cabinets had been partially installed. After looking at the cabinets they were made of particle board and glue, the stain did not match from one cabinet to the next, they had some type paper covering the backs and the grain was going the wrong way,the doors were nothing but laminate covered with a cheap and sloppy stain, scratches, etc.....for this we were charged 25,000.00. We were told these cabinets were comparable to another brand we had mentioned at the sales presentation. Deceived is the only word to use in this comparison. We ask them to remove the cabinets that the quality was so poor it would make the value of our home drop!!!!!
After immediately calling our sales person MK, she said she would contact her boss and see what our options were, the bottom line was we had no options, we had to keep the cabinets. After a lot of phone conversations, one meeting in person they dropped the price to 16,000.00 and then again to 8,000.00. Again we refused the offer due to the poor quality of the cabinets. We just wanted them out. It has been six weeks now without a kitchen or resolution. We have now been forced to contact an attorney because of the time period we have been without a kitchen and still they don't want to come to a fair settlement. They don't seem to care that our kitchen has not been functional for five weeks!
We have been deceived in every possible way by Sears and their home improvement staff in Rochester, NY. Buyers beware of big business rip-off schemes.
