Salem Ford Salem NH Complaint - Creating Unauthorized And Unnecessary Mechanical Work

Review by alfonse on 2008-06-06
SALEM, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I received a recall notice on my 2000 ford ranger for a wire change regarding the cruise control. Made an appointment and asked what the fix involved. Service manager said a wire under the hood, and will take around a hour. 1 1/2 hours later they told me they wanted to show me something in the garage area. I followed him in a saw they had both front wheels off and proceeded to tell me I needed lower ball joints. Why are my front wheels off I said? No answer. I told them I just had them replaced last year. They then went after my upper ball joints. I told them I had my own trusted mechanic. Then they told me I won't pass inspection and are concerned about my safety. I just passed inspection in Feb.

Now they tell me my transmission fluid is black and should be changed. I have heard that dealerships pull this kind of stuff, so I told them to put my wheels back on and give me the truck. Who the hell gave them the right to start pulling my truck apart. They probably started by looking for a brake job, finding the brakes OK and went for the ball joints.

I bet a lot of people get sucked into this kind of rip off. Don't trust these people.

I would take it back to your mechanic and have him look at it just to make sure it was put back together right.
