Wal-Mart Complaint - a biased employee?
FT PIERCE, FLORIDA -- Today, a co-worker went to Walmart in Ft. Pierce Florida to pick up some things for the business. She encountered a very rude employee that happens to be a CSM at the checkout. Our company uses a Walmart card . The card would not go through the automatic reader, when the clerk who was running everything through couldn't get the card to work, he called the CSM over who was in the other lane to let him punch in the numbers. She refused to let him and said basically too bad, you can't use your card, it is invalid. The co-worker called me and I went over to Walmart to see what the problem was, and without my knowing it I went through the line where the CSM was, and explained the problem. She tried to run the card through the reader and apparently the strip on the back of the card is bad. She then proceeded to put the card numbers in manually , and lo and behold the card was accepted. The co-worker is black, I am white. The co-worker felt very bad because I know she felt that she was treated badly because she is black. The CSM was white. Please, Walmart, cultural sensitivity is a must. We must treat all people well. I'm sure you must train your workers on this, but a regular reminder is totally necessary, especially when one works in a culturally diversified area such as Ft. Pierce.
