SUBJECT: Failure to Fix Vehicle

On 16 April 2008, we brought our 2002 Mitsubishi Montero to your dealership for service with 57,114 miles on the odometer. We informed you that the check engine light was on, that Tires Plus n Gambrills MD, had checked it out, and replaced the oxygen sensors, but were unable to make the light go away after 2 visits.

You charged us $345.95, and stated on the service from as follows ”Found wiring harness to 02 sensor connected to wrong sensors and wires damaged, completed repairs and operation okay.” Once the vehicle was driven a short distance the light came back on.

On 16 May 2008, we brought the vehicle back to Fitzgerald. It had 57, 875 miles on the odometer and the same check engine light was on. On the service form Fitzgerald stated “bank 2 sensor 2 needs replaced, completed replacement all operation good”. We were charged $450.49. Once again the light came back on after a short distance.

On 21 May 2008, we took the vehicle back to you. On the service form you stated” wire harness damaged too much to repair properly.” Verbally [snip], assistant service manager stated the repair would cost $2,150 in addition to what we had already paid.

On 22 May 2008, we took the vehicle to JBA Mitsubishi for a second opinion. Their service form stated, ”inspected wiring harness and couldn’t find any damage, when vehicle came in technician had found that oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2 was unplugged.” I telephoned Jaime and he advised he would call JBA, speak to the service advisor [snip], and explain the damage to them. I spoke to Ron when I picked up the vehicle and Jaime never called him. We were charged $373.12 by JBA, the vehicle has 58, 135 miles on it and we have not had any problems. Additionally, I contacted Sage, the service advisor at Tires Plus and he advised the wiring harness was never damaged.

We request that Fitzgerald Mitsubishi reimburse us “$796.44 as it appears that they did not fix or properly diagnose the problem. We are disputing these two bills with the credit card company and plan to file a consumer complaint.
