Suncoast Energys Complaint - Gasoline Prices - Greed At Suncoast Energys - Gasoline Prices

Complaint
Review by JWnCT on 2008-06-13
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I was returning a rental car to Hertz earlier this week after being in Orlando for business. I need to refill the car before returning it so stopped at the Suncoast Energys station/convenience store across from the Hertz location at the Orlando International Airport. I did not pay attention to the gas price since I needed the gas and also needed to get to the airport. I was appalled after pumping the gas to discover they were charging $5.299 for a gallon of regular gas. I understand the cost of a gallon in Orlando is a little less than $4/gallon. This avarice on the part of the operators/owners of this station should be put in the category of shameless greedy business people.

I am for the free market system but when people are taking advantage of unnecessarily that is a shame. Orlando should be embarrassed to have operators like this in your great city. You can bet I will check the price of gas before pumping next time. Shame on Suncoast Energys.

I didn't see the prices posted on any signs, which all other gas stations do. I thought it was a federal law to have gas stations post their prices in a prominent location so motorists don't have to stop to see the prices.

If you are unfamiliar with the area, you have no other choice when you are going to drop off a rental car and make a flight. The location is right at the rental car drop off and right off of a toll road. Because of the toll road, you can't just exit at anywhere prior to the airport exit (if coming from the coast), you are stuck with this gas station, which I will avoid next time. The price is about what National charges for them to fill the car for me, so next time, might as well let the rental car agency do it for me.

On 8/16 when I was on vacation in Orlando recently I noticed this gas station. The price was $5.69 a gallon for regular. There is no sign on the outside of the station to let people know how much gas is. They find out when they get to the pump. There are multiple gas stations about 1 mile from there with gas at regular prices ($3.89). This is price gauging and they should be stopped.
