United Airlines Informative - Customer Service At The Ticket Agent Counter Is Horrible!
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I arrived at the airport at 2:00 for my 4:00 o'clock flight. We stood in line for 1 hour (hundreds of us) and when we finally get to the Kiosk, we are told we can't get on the flight because we didn't check in on time.
When I called the person to tell her that it was their fault because we waited in line for an hour, she stated there was nothing she could do.
[snip] didn't know what she was doing while she booked me on another flight. She takes her sweet time and books me on a 6:00 flight (STANDBY).
I make it to the customer service person in my gate area and asked her if I had a chance of getting on the flight. She politely asked where I was going. I told her and she stated there was no way I would get to where I was going based upon the flight [snip] had booked me on. Also, unlike [snip], who stated she would not send my bags to the final destination, the new lady said she would send my bags to my final destination and she would CONFIRM my seat.
I was booked on a nice DELTA flight and made it home safely. My bag did not, but it is en route.
My point: I have noticed that the ticket agents don't know sheat!! Have them book you anything just to get you upstairs through security to the REAL agents of the airline. These people seem to be more informed. Thus, have the downstairs agent book you. Then, immediately go upstairs and ask the upstairs agent is there a better flight for you to accomplish your designation goal--they often will have a better solution. Also, have them pull your bags on the new flight they change you to.
Although [snip] was horrible, the upstairs United agent was great so I can't be mad at United. Hope this advice helps.
Note: Downstairs agent is the person working the kiosks and the luggage counters
Upstairs agent is the person who works at the desk where you board the plane
