Lowe's Complaint - Lowe's did NOT honor thier promise of "100% satisfaction guaranteed"
FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA -- We had Lowe's install laminate flooring several months ago. There were so many problems, the worst of which were that the boards on the stairs kept loosening and nearly causing us to fall. Each time they would send someone to re-glue it. Then sometimes the same boards on the steps would loosen or completely come off again. They finally re-did nearly all the steps securely. (so far). They left hammer marks all up and down the sides of the stairs where they removed the old portion of each step, causing each step to be shorter and less comfortable and safe to walk on. The putty job to cover up the holes left were hideous. Then the floor pieces began to separate and have gaps inbetween the planks. They sent a rep from the manufacturer to look at it. He agreed (to me) that it was an installation problem but Lowe's reported to us that all they could do is glue it. There were also gaps under each doorframe and walls to which they offered no solution. There were manufacture defects on many of the planks that looked terrible. Lowes told us, in essence; that they didn't have to do anything about that because we should have noticed it on the display at the store. Perhaps we should have but when the displays are put 7 to 12 feet above your head, a comsumer is not always able to see the true grain print on the laminate wood pieces. They tried to tell me that it was printed on the wood from a picture of actual wood and that those "stripes" were natural in wood. We wanted our home to look nice and this cost thousands of dollars. As a wife, it has brought me to tears. It is our opinion that Lowe's doesn't care. They got their money and that's that.
