Spirit Airlines Informative - Do Not Fly Spirit! Helpful Tips
Spirit airlines is based out of Miramar, Florida in Broward County. I would encourage any of you who were charged/or forced by circumstances to pay additional fees of any nature other than what you paid to book your flight, to contact the following agencies: Number 1! Dispute the charge on your card or with your bank. (If Spirit will not refund you or if you had to pay by reason of circumstance to fly, any additional fees, dispute those fees!!)
The Florida Attorney General's Office, The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, US Department of Transportation-Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings, your state attorney general, and local county/city consumer affairs department. As airlines are regulated by the federal government you should notify your Congress person.
Also, if airport police are contacted by Spirit to escort you out of the terminal, demand that a police report be written. This report should provide background on the incident and list the first and last name(s) of the employees involved. From posts I have read on sites across the internet, this has happened to Spirit customers by gate/counter agents. The key is to document the names of who and when you spoke to, what you did, what their response was, etc... this is key to a coherent complaint.
