Ashley Furniture Complaint - Ashley Furniture Is A Joke!!
WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- Let me start by saying that after reading the complaints about this company that they must have a standard operating procedure that states to deny any issues with their so called "quality furniture". If I would have researched we never would have gotten into this battle with them. We purchased a sectional sofa and also had the same delivery issues most people had but our issue is the quality and service after the sale. At first two pieces would not fit together and to be honest they fixed it rather promptly. A month after they had set up and installed I had decided to move the configuration of the pieces around and noticed when I moved them they scuffed our new laminate flooring.
I purchased scuff protectors and when installing noticed the metal frame of the two reclining pieces was RUSTED!! We called and they sent two techs out who stated our home had "moisture" that is why it rusted and he would have to ask his store mgr what to do. After not hearing back from them we called and the mgr stated it wasn't their problem something must have spilled on it to cause the corrosion. I offered them to go through any test and pull the fabric back to prove something had spilled. After multiple calls the store owner finally made an appointment to inspect. I thought the technicians were a joke until the store owner arrived. He stated he "could not see anything" and tried to now blame it on our dog, then said a spill must have happened.
He refused to do anything to help also. We took them to small claims court with documented timeline of events and detailed pictures and won. The lies he told in the courtroom after sworn hand on the bible was very disappointing. I learned a very interesting lesson that I wanted to share. The Ashley store manager gives the customer a warranty and then decides their self if they should honor it or not! Is this not a conflict of interest? The magistrate awarded us half of the original purchase price because we were not allowed to return the sectional.
We have not seen a dime yet! We will pursue this to the end and I only hope someone with more money than us will challenge this in a larger court and take the whole company down! This is not the furnitures fault, its the people who stand behind it.
