Viewsonic Corporation Informative - Ok Products, Horrendous Customer Service!

ROLLA, MISSOURI -- I ordered a replacement remote control for a Viewsonic video box in Feb 2008 and soon received a standard PC power cord! This was an obvious mistake and the company agreed to replace the incorrect product with a replacement.

A FEDEX label was generated by Viewsonic and I mailed off the part, expecting things to be resolved in a timely manner. After two weeks of waiting, I called and there was no record of my case. They beat around the busy until late June 2008 until I finally had it. I wish I had never wasted this much time and money as I ended up running WAY over on my cell phone minutes staying on hold for hours. Yes, I spent around $250 over my monthly plan dealing with these clowns over a $36 remote control. Towards the end, I was just mad and decided to push the issue a little more, all while being on a landline phone that time. They finally agreed to send another remote (I just wanted a refund at this time) as they didn't have record of my returns or the tracking number in their system.

My last of several dozen calls with them was when they finally agreed to send me another remote, which I really didn't want. I decided to take it as this was the only option. After the order was placed and I had a confirmation number, I asked to speak to a supervisor to vent my frustration. I was quickly hung up on. When I called back, there was a zillion hour wait on hold and I decided to just give up on this.

If you get a Viewsonic product and never have a problem with it, you will likely be satisfied. If there is ever a problem, you might as well just buy a new product from a different manufacturer, dispose of the Viewsonic, and cut your losses. I could have purchased a decent LCD monitor panel with all the extra I went over on my cell phone bill.

I order several thousand dollars on average of computer/monitor equipment per week as I custom build systems for others. I used to offer Viewsonic products but will never again after this latest incident. I had one other problem with them but it was resolved in a much shorter period of time, although I still wouldn't rate that service well either.

I have had excellent luck with Dell LCDs and Dell customer service in general. If you buy their higher end products such as

they come with a "Premium Panel Guarantee" which means that any dead/stuck pixels during the warranty will get you a replacement, no questions asked. Besides, these are also very excellent monitors.

Viewsonic is also considered a premium brand by many but don't expect premium service. I would be more likely to gamble with some no name brand from China than Viewsonic.
