American Airlines Complaint - Mistake Made
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO -- In April of 2008, after several months of looking for a flight to Boston in September, I made a reservation through American Airlines web site. I chose a flight that left on Thursday and flew back in on Monday. On June 27th I received an e-mail- the first I had received from the airline since making the reservation- stating they had changed my flight. Not only was I flying out later on Thursday but I was flying out of Boston earlier and on Sunday. I immediately called the airlines and told them they had made a mistake. I didn't care about them changing the times, but they couldn't change the date as I couldn't fly back before Monday. I was transferred to a resolution specialist who informed me that was my original reservation and the mistake was mine.
After arguing for 10 minutes she finally admitted that she didn't know how the error had occurred, and that she wasn't disputing my claim that I had originally chosen to fly back in on Monday. She said it would cost me 100.00 to change the reservation PLUS 85.00 for the difference in the ticket price. I told her the reason I bought the tick as early as I did was because of the rising costs and I had gotten a fairly good price in April. I was told, rather sarcastically that she would meet me half way and wave the 100.00 changing fee but I would have to pay the 85.00 difference in the ticket. So they make the mistake and I have to pay for it. It's bad enough they are charging for everything from a bag a peanuts to checking your luggage. Now they are changing your reservations and claiming you made the mistake so they can charge you for fixing it.
I will never fly American Airlines again. They are as crooked as they come and care nothing about customer service. I hope others read this post and think twice before purchasing a ticket on American Airlines.
