Motel 6 Complaint - Paid Cash, But Manager Charged My Debit Card
Resolution Update on 08/04/2008:
I received a letter from Dave Redmond, Director of Guest Relations, after writing to Motel 6. In his letter, he promised to investigate the matter at hand and to take all other necessary measures, including retraining. He also authorized a credit refund for the $49.49 which I was over-charged. I'm pleased with the actions he took, but I am still mad at myself for not looking on the receipt.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA -- I had driven through Big Sur on my way to San Luis Obispo and stopped at a Moro Bay Motel 6 which is just 10 miles from San Luis Obispo. I asked one of the staff if there was a Motel 6 in San Luis Obispo and she said yes. She called ahead and they (in SLO) wanted my VISA debit card number. When I got there, I paid cash and went straight to my room because I was exhausted. I didn't bother to look at the receipt but when I got back from my trip and looked at my account, I discovered that the manager had took $49.95 from my account. I remember paying cash with a one-hundred dollar bill.
I wondered why they gave me change from another person's wallet. I called Motel 6 and they said that because I didn't have a cash receipt, they couldn't do anything. Has this happened to any of you at this Motel 6? The address is 1433 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo CA
