Orbitz Complaint - Orbitz Runs A Bait And Switch With Flight Offerings
I found tickets on the site to my destination posted as $290 for a non-stop flight. I tried to purchase them only to be told they were no longer available. After hours of searching for similar tickets, I was forced by circumstance to purchase a costlier ticket, with stopover and later arrival time to my destination to my now eternal regret from Orbitz.
Imagine my surprise when for the next THREE days, the exact same tickets were magically available again. When I contacted Orbitz, they wanted to "educate" me on the way internet travel works. They further went into a semantics argument. When placing the order, the site indicated that ANY change would result in significant costs. Yet when I called to find out what was going on, the supervisor told me I could have cancelled in the first 24 hours at no cost. What?!? Is cancellation NOT a change?? He then informed me For an additional $510 I could change to the $290 tickets!!!
All I can say is that it appears that Orbitz is using desirable tickets to get you there then if you are in a situation when you must fly on certain date you have to take whatever you can in your affordability range. I spent $180.00 more for lousy tickets, lost 5 hours in layovers and time at my destination. Use Orbitz only as a last resort and know that the chance of getting messed over BIG TIME is clearly there. Wish I'd read the reviews on this site before I went there!!!
