Conn's Appliances Informative - Failure to honor Return/Exhange Policy
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- On May 25, 2008, we purchased a Sony Blu Ray DVD player from Conn's. The player did not work from the beginning. I contacted Sony several times, tried their various suggestions, but nothing worked. Sony told me to return the player to the Conn's for exchange or replacement.
Conn's refused to replace/exchange the DVD player. I contacted their corporate offices several times only to be told that they have a contract with Sony that does not allow them to repair/exchange Sony products. At NO time during the sale was I told this. There is NOTHING in their return/exchange policy stating this.
Conn's corporate offices basically told me it was my tough luck. The said that they had to honor their contract with Sony, and that their contract with me meant nothing to them. No one that I have spoken to at Sony is aware of any such contract. Sony has stated that it is Sony's policy that the companies that sell their products will replace/exchange their products within the first 30 days. Sony is the only one that has been helpful in resolving this issue. Who do you think I believe? Certainly not Conn's.
Conn's responses (in person, by phone, and in writing to my complaint with the Better Business Bureau) have indicated that they have no regard for their customers or any idea of what customer service is. Conn's apparently feels that their customers are so uneducated that they cannot read the return/exchange policy, contact the manufacturers, or file letters on complaint.
I will NEVER purchase anything from Conn's again. I hope that everyone who reads this will spread the word. The only way to stop this company from continuing their deceptive practices is to stop shopping there. Spread the word!!!!! Don't shop at Conn's!!!!
