Stater Brothers Complaint - Bad Bixed Wine - Return Of Undrinkable Boxed Wine

Review by blenintosh on 2008-07-06
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA -- We purchased two Black Box Wines - Pinot Gigio from the Stater Brothers Store on Sunise in Palm Springs. Both were defective. We believe somehow in storage or in shipment they were exposed to excessive heat. We returned them to Stater Brothers and were told in no uncertain terms that they didn't accept any opened wine. We explained they were bad and was told very vocally by her that there was nothing she could do.

So, we are out over $38.00 for undrinkable wine. I suspect we may do shopping at competitors in the future.

I would go to Stater Bros Corp and see if they will listen. It's 110' plus everyday in Palm Springs right now so it's not hard to guess they may have sat in a truck trailer or on the dock to long and went bad.

Geez, I wonder how anything could be exposed to excessive heat in Palms Springs:)

I suggest that you contact the vinyard or importer that produces the wine. They should be more concerned that there is bad wine with their name on it for sale.

This conflict over the wine was very nicely resolved. I contacted Black Box and expressed my concern. They responded immediately and even sent a Black Box Shirt. When the manager of Stater Brothers returned to town he called and asked me to come in. He immediately gave me a credit for the wine and offered his sincere appologies for any misunderstanding. He was just great and we continue to shop at Stater Broters mostly because of him.
