United Parcel Service Complaint - UPS Damaged My Bike And Won't Bring Me The Second Package That Goes With The First!
EDMONTON -- The following is a letter that I sent to the company I ordered my bike from, to complain about the company UPS, that they used to ship my bike. It came in two packages and we only have received one. UPS has had my packages since June 26, 2008 and today, July 7, 2008, I received one of my two packages which was so damaged that it looked like it went through a tornado!
Hi. I am contacting you just to let you know and give you a heads up about the shipping with our item we bought from you. It arrived in Edmonton on the 26th of June, 2008, and they (UPS) said that there was no contact information or address information provided by your company, for us, and that they didn't know where we lived or how to get a hold of us. Since we managed to get a hold of the UPS company on July 2, 2008, we have been in a real uproar with getting anywhere with them. They kept saying that they guaranteed that they would have the bike to us, the next day, and then the next day it was the same news and the next and the next, and so on until today, July 7, 2008. We cant seem to get anywhere with these guys.
Finally we got the bike body today, but not the other package with the tires and whatever else. The box is very damaged and broken open. Looks like it had quite the hard toss around? I have taken pictures however and we are planning on recording as my husband opens the box for proof of damages. When looking into what we could see of the bike body so far, without taking the bike out of the box, there are scrapes and major gouges in the metal of the bike frame, so it was treated carelessly by UPS. The bars/brackets for the crate are broken and plied up (bent). Have to wonder why shipping costs are so high when the company has no respect for buyers property.
Upon opening the box, we have recorded the opening from in the box to out of the box. The bike is damaged yes. VERY. A headlight is smashed, the plastic body cover is broken, tire rods are bent and plied. A lot of scratches and gouges on the bike in various places, especially one of the foot rests, not minor either.
We are wondering if you have any suggestions for us, or if this has become common with UPS? Did your company forget to provide the contact-phone #/address by accident or is UPS lying? We are VERY disappointed and very angry about this all, and we are going to be figuring out what exactly we can do about all of this. We spent a lot of money, it was not just as if we bought a candy bar from the corner store! As paying customers, we should be able to be happy and satisfied with what we have bought!
We are sitting here wondering, what condition the other package is going to get to us in, whenever UPS gets it to us, or are they hiding something with that package? Wouldn't surprise us if parts are missing, the tires are slashed, or maybe they have just plain damaged the other package so badly that they are afraid to bring it to us?
When you have the time, it would be nice to hear from your company and what you have to say on all of this. I am including a picture or two for your own reference, of the bike still in the box. As for the video, I won't send that through email just yet, unless requested. I will be keeping the video for future reference.
So maybe that sums it up for you what UPS has done to me and my packages. Wouldn't you think after paying $518.00 that the shipping company would have a little respect?
UPS needs to be boycotted or else they need to start getting into trouble for the stuff that they do. Shouldn't they be held accountable for their actions? AND, RUDE customer service too!
Shame on UPS!
