Target Complaint - Target Extended Warranty - A Cheat!
SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND -- Like another contributor to this site, I must complain about Target's extended warranty service. While I have always been a fan of Target, I cannot say the same for their warranty provider. When I called regarding the auto adapter on a dual DVD player I purchased in May, they told me that, per exclusion "b" and the terms of the warranty, all accessories are excluded from the warranty coverage. This is a dodge, since section "b" is about consumable items (like ink in pens, or crayons in an art set). He used the exact language of section b of the list of exclusions (ALL CAPS added by me to highlight): "Consumable items, attachments or any other parts or materials WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO BE CONSUMED during the life of the product. . ."
In other words, consumable items are excluded -- not attachments. But I guess the concept of a subordinate clause is too much for a call center shift supervisor to understand.
Lesson learned: don't EVER waste money on the extended warranty -- it will not be honored.
