Home Depot Complaint - False Advertising, Horrible Service
CANADA -- I was at my local Home Depot (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada) about two months ago to get an air conditioner. They had them advertised online for $89. When I arrived at the appliance department, the rep (#1) looked surprised when I told her I wanted the $89 air conditioner as advertised. She said they don't go on sale until next week but because I saw them online she would go and get me one. Then another representative (#2) came over and said I couldn't have it because store policy says they don't go on sale until next week. #1 and #2 fought for a moment and #1 walked away. I continued to argue with #2 and said I would go up front to talk to his manager. As I was walking away #1 asked me not to. She said that she was going to get me the air conditioner and for me to go into the garden section and she'll come get me when she has it.
Into the garden section I went FOR AN HOUR! She never came. So I went to find her. Where was she? LEAVING! She had punched out. #2 (who told me I couldn't have it) told her I had left!
I walked out incredibly angry and will NEVER return. I would have stayed and talked to the manager, but I was already late for my niece's birthday party. I don't think it would have made a difference though considering the choice of sales reps the manager chose to represent the store.
What I don't understand is with all the competition out there right now, how can they afford to be so careless with service and false advertising? I will go to Lowe's from now on!
Additional info: The web site stated that it was available in the store. If it has a store number under the listing than it is available in-store. The one sales person was in agreement with me - rep #1. Rep #1 AND #2 looked on the site and saw it at the advertised price - $89.00
