Spartan Tire Complaint - Not So Friendly Anymore....

Review by ARS on 2008-07-10
BRIGHTON, MICHIGAN -- I had gone to Spartan Tire for years as a young adult and so had my whole family. When I recently moved back to the area, my car had 2 problems: the speedometer was bouncing and my drivers side window was slow to go up or would not work at all. I took it to Spartan Tire. They called me back with an estimate to fix numerous problems they found to the tune of $2000. They told me the speedometer would be $450 to fix and that the window was fine, it just needed a little lube. Thankfully, I thought this all seemed a little high, so I went down the road to another auto repair shop and asked for an estimate for all the things Spartan Tire found as problems (WITHOUT telling or showing what I had already been estimated) and I was given an estimate of $800. I did not get any work done at Spartan Tire but was charged $146 for diagnostics.

2 months later and my window is acting slow again. I took it to Spartan Tire where they barely acknowledged my presence (and believe me I was polite and understanding when I made the appointment, no yelling or claiming they did not fix it right)blatantly took care of another customer before me and never once looked me in the eye. They then called me 3 hours later and said it needs a new motor for $312. I declined their services at this time.

The customer service is lacking and I never thought I would say it but I think they are just there to make a buck! Its not the old Spartan tire I knew.

Why didn't you bring it to the repair shop that did the original window repair? Apparently they didn't fix it the first time.
My guess is, since you didn't have the original repair done at Spartan the first time they probably thought (and correctly) that you wouldn't have the second attempted repair done there either.
