Cabrio Washer - Complaint
LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS -- FIRST MISTAKE - I purchased a Cabrio washer from Lowes 9 months ago. The washer does not support the large capacity for which it is marketed without having to minimize the size of the load and rewash clothes. I could never use the high speed spin cycle because it spun so tight it would make holes in the towels and clothing.
2nd mistake - I dismissed this because I did not want to deal with having to wait on a repairman so I dealt with it on my own by not using the high spin cycle and by rewashing when odors were not removed.
A week ago the washer began to leak. First available service in the suburbs of Houston was 4-5 days. The repairman from A and E came today. While he had to top portion up to work inside, the under side of the top is severely rusted and dropping particles of rust on the plastic portion of the top of the tub. Repairman said he couldn't find anything, left. The washer is still leaking.
I call whirlpool and talk with a supervisor by the name of Cody (ID# 4211) who deals with customers who make appliance purchases from Lowes and inform him of problems as they unfolded. I request he replace the washer with a unit that does not leak, is not rusting, and can be used in the capacity as it is marketed. He apologizes numerous times and informs me that whirlpool warranty does not include replacement ONLY repair. The best they can do is to send another repairman in 4 more days.
On a more positive note, I called and spoke with the manager of the Lowes store which we made the purchase and they have agreed to let us return the washer. Thank you Lowes! It will not be a Whirlpool nor will I ever purchase a Whirlpool again.
