Work Out World, RI Informative - Great Gym - Horrible Sales Tactics
WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND -- I went to WOW in RI with the intention of signing on for the least amount of money if I liked the gym. I absolutely love the gym but the sales approach is a turn off. It is so high pressure and the advertisements is very deceiving. I did sign up for 2 years with no money down and $29.99 a month. If you want a gym with a lot of machines and classes, its a great gym but you have go in with an attitude and be willing to walk out if they do not give you what you want. I also know of someone who joined for 1 year at the same price after I did. So be prepared to be extensively hassled but hold your ground. I would compare it to a used car salesman of the 1950's. Also, it depends on who you talk to. Some of the sales associates will give you a better deal. I also know another person who went to check out the place and left after being hassled and criticized by the salesman for not signing up with a large down payment.
It is such a shame as the place could sell itself with honest up front pricing and advertising. The gym presents itself as very deceiving and you find yourself not trusting the facility. Do not believe any advertisement you read there is always much in very tiny print.
I guess its good for me as it is a turn off and will keep the place from being overcrowded.
