eBay Complaint - account suspension - custumer service
I am a relatively new ebay user. I've purchased about four Items on ebay and was in the process of selling items for the first time. I must say that my experiences with other members has been a real pleasure. The basic concept is terrific. However, I soon got a taste of the darker side of this site when I found that my account had been terminated and all three of my auctions had been canceled. I figured at first that there had to be a mistake on ebay's end, and that clearing things up would be a reasonably simple matter. Boy was I in for a rude awakening. I'll spare the details of trying to find out how to respond from there poorly organized support pages and the unansered E-mails since these problems have been so passionately expressed by others on this site. I will simply say that I'm absolutely furrious. My only guess as to why my account was suspended was that I had an old E-mail address listed with them from a few years back when I made my first purchase, a 1997 Mercury Sable. Anyway, I discovered this problem when a bidder called me and told me that my E-mail wasn't working. After trying without sucess to update my E-mail I decided that a temporary fix would be to add a note in my discription telllng bidders to use a different address if they needed to contact me with questions about my items. I now suspect that ebay must have found this innocent act to be a breach of some paragraph in there user agreement. A simple phone could have cleared this matter up!!!!! I now recognize that they must have more important things to do with there time then assist paying custumers.
With all the money they are making, it would be a small matter to set up a modest customer service department to deal with issues the old fassion way, over the phone. It least for critical issues such as suspensions. There inconsiderate actions have now cost me several hundred dollars in sales, damaged my hard earned reputation, and prevented me from bidding on an item I'd been tracking for a week. Why on earth should simple mistakes made by customers be met with gross over-reaction on there part, why the damage and stress that they cause through deliberate indifferance go on with impunity!!! They should be held accountable for there actions. If anyone decides to organize a class action suite please count me in!!!!!
