Villa Edera Hotel Complaint - Beware! - Hotel

MONEGLIA ITALY -- Warning! Beware of the unprofessional behavior of the owner of this hotel. We reserved a room in person for the following day, left a credit card number and cell phone contact number. When we arrived the next day to check in, the owner said the occupant of our room was staying an extra day, so too bad for us, these things happen.

That's it, they never bothered to call, even though they knew the room was unavailable, or help us with plans to find another hotel. They were extremely rude, and seemed to think it wasn't that big a deal since we were only staying one night.

After finding a new hotel in Moneglia, the front desk personnel of that hotel told us they're constantly getting people who thought they had a reservation with Villa Edera, but were dumped for a longer staying guest.

The owner of Villa Edera is an unprofessional, greedy discredit to her profession.

That is pretty lame,they should have at least called to tell you the room would not be available.

since when do hotels call all their customers and tell them they have no rooms available?

a paying guest takes priority over new guests.

leaving the card number is far different then paying for a room.

Dude,they made a reservation in person.Most of the hotels I've stayed at don't charge the card until you checkout.
The hotel made a mistake and gave a lame excuse(IMO).No way to run a business

um i am a dudette.

and anyone can make a hold, that does not guaranty a room unless paid for.

the hotel did not make the mistake. the poster never paid for the room to be held.

they made a reservation IN PERSON the hotel clerk took their CC info and reserved a room.What more should they have done?

madconsumer, by your logic no hotel reservation ever needs to be honored. A credit card is hardly ever debited until check in. I've been traveling for business my entire adult life, and I've always found if the hotel messes up the reservation, they go out of their way to make things right (often by booking a room at another hotel at the same rate, even if the new room costs more).

mad, socal and jbl are right. I travel all the time. My credit card number and reservation number are my guarantee of a room.
If I don't show up or cancel the reservation in a timely manner, they charge the card.
