Riverside Lodge Of Inverness Florida Complaint - Campground Rip Off
INVERNESS, FLORIDA -- To all who travel to Florida in an RV or travel trailer beware of Riverside Lodge and RV resort. We had the absolute worst experience of our lives, and were ripped off. We stopped at Riverside Lodge and RV Park for a 2 week stay, hoping to relax and enjoy some time together in what appeared online as a beautiful and friendly campground, we could not have been more mistaken. From the moment we arrived we discovered everything we were promised was not going to be. To begin with we were told if we arrived early we could pick our spot, however upon arriving we were directed to a specific spot that we did not care for, but not wanting to be a bother we let it go. From that moment forward we began to discover that the campground had been inundated with ants, millions of them. In just a few short hours they had invaded our RV, inside the food cabinets, in the dog food, even inside the bag of bread and pastries.
We contacted the office to try and get some assistance, promised we would be assisted no one came to see the problem, we went to a store and purchased bug kill hoping to solve on our own. By the next day the ants were everywhere and we again complained to management, this time to be assisted by a young woman with a small child, she put a handful of powder outside of our front door, that is it. As we became upset we investigated the cause of our problem and discovered an overflowing trash can about 100 feet away that was overflowing with ants. It looked like a waterfall of millions of ants, realizing our situation was not going to be resolved we came to the conclusion we must leave the facility, which we did. Upon returning home we were forced to put off several bug bombs and wait 2 days to enter, we must have cleaned up thousands of ants, we had to discard at least $150 of groceries, and spend an entire day cleaning, not to mention our vacation was shot.
Upon reflecting we sent the owner of the park a letter explaining what had happened and requesting a refund, we were treated like it was our fault. We were told we were not going to be refunded the 2 weeks we paid in advance, we were told we should have controlled the ants as this was nature, and we were lied to about the fact we had requested this site. All of this to prevent them from refunding our monies. They offered us a credit at their facility. Not only will I never return there, but I feel it is my duty to try and make sure that no one else has a similar experience. If we can help just one person by writing this then it will have been worth it. Jack buck.
