Lowe's Informative - Store Policy
VESTAL -- I wanted to purchase solid surface countertops at Lowes. I saw a sample in their store and really liked the workmanship and quality.
The job was easily a $5000 job. Store policy says I have to pay the full price up front - before anyone even comes to measure. After taking the measurements, the soonest I could hope for installation would be approximately 3 weeks.
With this policy, Lowes is getting interest on my money. In addition, if I pay up front the entire cost, what recourse do I have if job not done or not done well? There are laws in New york State that say contractors can't get full payment up front. Why is Lowe's an exception?
Needless to say, I have not purchased my countertops there and I have contacted a small business to do the job.
