Lowe's Complaint - Extended Warranty Is A Hassle
TUCSON, ARIZONA -- We purchased the extended warranty on a $3100 GE fridge. We thought we were lucky in doing so when the temperature in it began fluctuating to unsafe levels, a year later. We contacted Lowe's and a service co. was scheduled to come out. The service guy came out but determined there was nothing wrong with it, because on that day the temp in the fridge was normal. Three days later and the fridge temp was in the low 40's. We called Lowe's again and once again the service co. was scheduled to come out a couple days after the call. It was the same guy who came and he only determined there was something wrong with it when he pulled out the vegetable draw and saw a huge block of ice attached to the thermostat. He made a call into his co. to get guidance on where the thermostat was and how to get to it, which led me to believe he didn't know what he was doing.
To make a long story short, he left my house with the fridge pulled out from the wall, in the middle of my floor, and the plastic cover and screws from the thermostat in the vegetable draw because he couldn't figure out how to get it back on. This was a Thursday and supposedly Lowe's did not give the service agency authorization to order the parts until Monday. It will be 2 weeks since the service guy was here (for the second time) and our part is expected to be delivered. Lowe's offers no explanation except that the service company is lying about the date they gave authorization to order the part.
Apparently we are stuck with dealing with this particular service co. In the meantime we had to buy another fridge/freezer for our garage and are living out of that.
