McDonald's Corporation Complaint - Manager Refuses To Talk To Parent Of 14 Yr Old Employee
ASHLAND, MASSACHUSETTS -- My 14 yr old son works at the restaurant but wasn't working at the time. I answered my home phone and a man wanted to speak to my son - he introduced himself as Joe, the store manager. He wanted to talk to my son but I told him my son is outside and that he could talk to me. He then said that he wanted to talk directly to him. I thought this strange and I said that I am the dad, my son is 14, and that he should talk to me. He then got what I characterize as rude and arrogant by stating that he talks directly to the employee as my son signs the time sheet and there is no reason for him to talk to the dad. I told him that he'll talk to me if I say he'll talk to me. He continued on with this banter so I just hung up on him. I then called back to hopefully talk to another manager, got him. He started saying there were rude things said on the phone and I agreed that he was rude. He had the arrogance to say I was rude.
To all parents - safeguard your kids and don't let these pompous idiots attempt to blatantly circumvent your parental rights. Having some guy call my house and demand to not talk to me and to only speak with my 14 yr old son is totally unacceptable.
McDonalds management need to know the law. My son is a minor and I will not be purposely shut out of any conversations by an idiot.
