Hotwire.com Complaint - Could not get seat on flight with HOTWIRE reservation
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I booked a flight through hotwire in April (for a July 14th flight) and I got their confirmation email saying that my ticket had been confirmed. On July 14th I showed up at the PHL airport and when I checked in I was not allocated a seat on my flight because the plane was full. I had to be on stand-by. This worried me enough to want to call Hotwire about the situation. The person I talked with at Hotwire (a supervisor by the name of Crystal) was less than helpful. She was sarcastic and condescending, telling me that Hotwire does not allocate seats. I told her that I knew this - all I wanted was to have a place on the plane.... I could deal with any seat assignment at the gate. My problem was that I did not even get a seat on that flight. I ended up making alternate arrangements. BEWARE people.. do not assume that once you pay for a ticket through Hotwire you will end up on the flight that they claim to have confirmed for you!!!!
When I wrote Hotwire, part of their response read:
Please understand that flight overbookings do occur in the airline
industry and are not unique to Hotwire ticket holders or to US Airways.
In such circumstances, passengers without confirmed seat assignments are
the first to be bumped from a flight. Our airline partners promise to do
their best to re-accommodate you on the next flight with available seats.
