Sleep Inn at Destin, Florida Complaint - Lost Reservations - Smells Fishy

Review by The Marine on 2008-07-27
DESTIN, FLORIDA -- On 7/4/08, my family and I arrived for a stress free Fourth of July weekend in Destin, Fl. that was until we checked in at Sleep Inn. Two months earlier I had reserved a suite for 2 days of fun but when I checked in I found they had lost my reservations or gave it away to the highest bidder. They claim the reservations were not showing in their computer but mysteriously Choice Hotels International and myself had a record. The staff was very incompetent overall and throughout the entire turmoil tried to absolve themselves of all responsibility. After two hours of wasted time, Sleep Inn performed the unthinkable, they actually found a double bed room in "The all booked, no room at the Inn, including my suite, hotel".

Once again, they have stolen someone's reservations. I think they should be taken off the Choice Hotels list.

I travel a lot for business and usually book my hotel room 3-4 weeks ahead of time. I always check 1 week ahead of time that the reservation is still confirmed. I do this with any hotel I stay at. It is very possible that there was an error somewhere, could have been a computer glitch, employee error (didn't save the reservation in the system), or something else. Be happy they were able to accommodate you in the end.
