Spirit Airlines Complaint - Wouldn't Fly With Them Again Even If They Paid Me To!
NEW JERSEY -- I had a family wedding to attend in Cancun. My husband and I took a flight from LaGuardia (NY) to Ft. Lauderdale airport where we were supposed to have a connecting light to Cancun. We arrived at the airport 2 1/2 hours before our flight in order to have time to get through security and to check in our luggage. The airplane did not get to LaGuardia until 45 minutes after it was supposed to have taken off.
By the time we got to Ft. Lauderdale, we had missed our connecting flight. We had to stand in a 45 minute line to be told that there was nothing that they could do to help us and that we had already been automatically rebooked for a flight the following day. We ended up taking a cab to a hotel in the area and having dinner. The following day again we got to the airport well before we had to and yet again the plane was late taking off.
Returning from Cancun, we were met with the same problem. This time I asked for a manager. I explained my situation and that this had JUST happened to me the other day. Since he said that I'd have to wait 24 hours for the next flight, I asked about them covering the fees for a hotel or maybe a meal voucher for our troubles...considering that it wasn't our fault. This so-called manager told me and everyone else that since it was "weather related" there was nothing that he could do for us and that the airline wasn't liable for anything. I asked him what weather related incident could have occurred since Cancun, Ft Lauderdale and everything in between was clear and beautiful.
To this he didn't have an answer. We ended up staying at the airport over night. I refused to put out more money on another two cabs (to and from the hotel) and another hotel fee. My feelings are that they was simply spewing lies and excuses so that the airline wouldn't have to dish out money. I think that they are trained to spew these lies and excuses. There wasn't one person that apologized for either incidents, they showed no customer service skills and were just plane rude. I can't imagine them to expect people to ever use them again. I KNOW THAT I WONT!
