Chevrolet Complaint - Many Speedometer Problems 2004 Impala

Review by mysteryman on 2008-07-31
CORAM, NEW YORK -- The speedometer in my 2004 Impala with only 48,000 miles on it has suddenly gotten a mind of it's own. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I called the service department of the dealership and they said it would be over $600 to get fixed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I have looked for recalls but can't find any but have found plenty of complaints. I never know for sure how fast I am going. Chevy has been no help at all.

Go to an independent mechanic. They can probably replace it for a lot cheaper than $600. I had one replaced and noted on the title that the odometer would be incorrect and put in the actual milage (obviously a used speedometer's odometers won't be what your car had on it).
