Surfside Motel Complaint - Rude and unbecoming conduct
SURFSIDE BEACH, TEXAS -- My family of five chose to stay the week of 7/26/08 in Surfside Beach, Texas. We stayed 5 days at the Surfside Motel and paid for a week. Our uncle came down late Friday afternoon with his wife and three grand daughters to finish out our stay(we needed to return to Austin).
To make a long story short, the owner took great umbrage at this, accused us in a phone call of larceny and our relative of trespassing. They forced our uncle to pay a full night rate after the week had been paid in full. This was double billing and the whole affair ruined their weekend getaway.
All of this would not have been quite so bad if the owners were not so rude about the situation. Our 70 year old uncle(a retired business owner himself) and his wife said they do not think they have ever been so rudely treated in their lives. They were threatened with a call to the police to evict them. If you ever met kindly Uncle Carl you would realize how absurd this statement to be.
We had left $50 worth of food in the refrigerator, a note and a key on a table but were accused of abandoning the room. Somehow all of these items disappeared before their arrival.
I am a manager at HEB and my wife is a manager of a Starbucks. We understand the value of customer service in all situations. Whatever the rights or wrongs of this situation, the innkeepers showed a complete lack of customer service and civility. They were rude and confrontational to the extreme. Would not stay here again if it was free.
