American Airlines Complaint - Seat assignments not honored.
I purchased 6 tickets from DFW to London in February 2008 for a flight in August. I booked in advance and paid regular price so that I could get good seats for my parents who have some disabilities. I received a confirmation email with my ticket numbers and assigned seats. Early in June while checking the flight times so seat up hotels, I found out that AA had canceled the flight to London Gatwick that we had paid for and had us flying at a different time into Heathrow. I called the airlines and asked about this. I should have received correspondence, but had not. I confirmed our seats and received an email confirmation of the new flight with assigned seats. Yesterday, as I was getting documents together for the trip, I find out that we not longer have our assigned seats and are spread out all over the plane, including the seat right in the middle of the 5 seat row! I called AA and asked for this to be corrected. The could not. I was told that I had purchased transportation not a seat. I asked about my parents and how are they going to be able to get to the non aisle seats, they could not give me an answer. I spoke to a supervisor who told me that nothing could be done. She could watch for open seats as they come up and move us or we can wait for the day of the flight and ask the check in agents to try to seat us together. These people had little to no compassion for anyone and especially those with special needs. Tell everyone you know....don't fly with American Airlines, no telling where they would seat you!!
